Business Cards

 Wahoo's Business cards.

Don't ask me why the Gloria has a pissy face.  She's the one who landed on the
business card as I was taking pics.  Cats.

The 2010 Challenge

My 2010 Challenge

1. I will get rid of one item a day in order to de-stuff my living space. I don't need all this "stuff" and it's blocking my energy flow. Goodbye stuff.

2. I will read 12 great works of literature this year, one book per month. This will allow me to expand my literary experience without sacrificing the normal "trash" I love to read so much!

3. I will watch 52 great films, one film per week. This challenge could expand to more movies but I'm going to keep the goal as 52.

4. I will accomplish at least one item on my Bucket List. I'd like to accomplish more than one but figure I'll aim small but achieve big!

Yeah, so I kinda fell behind on this project. There were developments beyond my control that threw me off track. Such is life I suppose. I plan to pick some of it back up, again. The Bucket List is being transformed into a Betty List and the de-cluttering is always a work-in-progress. Time constraints are causing me to rework the movie and book challenges.

Since it's something I'm doing for myself it can be anything I want it to be. Yup, I just gave myself permission to not feel like a failure...and it felt good.

This season has really been killer so far, yeah pun intended…deal with it. Each week the tension is kicked up a couple notches! With only five episodes left after tonight I’m mournfully wondering what I’ll be doing with my Sunday nights. Le sigh.

Great opening scene tonight. Andy stumbling into Maryann’s evil little gathering, without knowing it creates a distraction for Sam’s escape and then having his arm broken by a possessed Terry Bellefleur had me on the edge of my seat! Loved that Sam shifted into an owl and flew away to escape Maryann.

Sookie is in a world of trouble and there isn’t a dang thing Bill can do about it. Lorena is holding Bill hostage, having power over him as his maker, and we see some flashbacks of where it went wrong between these two. During his captivity Lorena lets it slip that Eric wants Sookie and that’s the reason she’s back. Uh oh.

Thankfully we finally learn exactly what Maryann’s deal is! Sam gets Daphne to spill and it’s not good for the good people of Bon Temps. Apparently Maryann is a maenad, a creature of Greek mythology, and is the cause of all the chaos in Bon Temps. I really hope Sam takes her out. I’m not a fan of her or all the nakedness she inspires in the town folk!

Jason’s scene were all fantastic. Love that he’s getting his air filled head screwed on straight. It was pretty fun watching him being interrogated by Steve thinking it had to do with his getting to know the preacher’s wife in a Biblical way. Steve rethinking Jason’s ignorance as great cover and him a superb spy for the vamps is just priceless. Jason’s best moment was kicking the crud out of Gabe when he insulted Sookie.

I love the Jessica and Hoyt storyline but wish they weren’t living in such a bubble. I’d like to see them interacting more, especially since everyone else is in crisis. They seem to be the only characters that have nothing serious going on.

We’re getting to see what each of our favorite characters are made of right now. Sam’s initial reaction to Maryann was to run but when he learns his community is in danger he considers sacrificing himself to save them. Sam has a wonderful noble nature and we can forgive his earlier grumpiness this season.

Jason is starting to see through his grief and pain and realizes that the Newlins are wacky. It’s going to interested to see what happens when he realizes they’ve got Sookie.

Eric by all outward appearances is self centered but this season we’re seeing a different side completely. He seems to care about things other than himself, even if he has an odd way of showing it. Eric had the best scene of the night with his lone bloody tear grieving the loss of his maker. Still not nearly enough Eric.

There wasn’t a great Terry Bellefleur scene that I’ve grown accustom to watching each episode. The best line of the night was about Terry so I guess I’ll just have to make do. When Arlene is confessing to Tara that she may have taken advantage of Terry, of course neither of them realize what the true nature of their blackouts is about, Tara exclaims “Are you tellin’ me you date-raped Terry Bellefleur?” Loved that!

So Eric is off to the rescue but who’s rescue will it be? How will Bill break away from Lorena? What is Godric doing at the Fellowship church? How will Sookie escape this one? When is Maryann going to get what’s coming to her? How can I savor each of the last five episodes when all I want to do is just gobble them up?

Rest in Peace Charlie's Angel

I’m sad at the recent passing of 70’s icon Farrah Fawcett. I spent many a night as a young girl watching Jill, Kelly and Sabrina solving problems for Charlie. They were role models to young girls like me. They were beautiful, resourceful, adventurous, smart, and capable women doing dangerous work.

I wanted to grow up and be them, I even have “Get Your P.I. License” on my Bucket List. I may still grow up to be like Jill Munroe. Rest in peace Farah, say “Hi” to Bosley.

True Blood: More Eric Please!!

"True Blood" kicked off season two with some blood curdling screams and a brand spanking new dead body. As great as it was to dive right back into Bon Temps, chock full of never ending drama, I was a little underwhelmed tonight.

This first episode had a lot going on, maybe too much. We get to see all our favorite characters in moments that are, in my opinion, too brief. Hopefully we'll get more Bill, more Sam, a lot more Eric and believe it or not more newborn vamp Jessica. She really has some of the more killer lines throughout this episode. I have a feeling we'll definitely see more of her and the tension she'll add to Sookie and Bill's relationship.

It was great to see a few of the minor characters get some really good material. Loved Arlene explaining to Sam they need another waitress because nine out of ten of her nails were broken. I cheered Terry Bellefleur on while he kicked out customers for making jokes about Rene's death and upsetting Arlene. It was a tad unsettling when she hugged him and he in turn picked up a lock of her hair for a whiff. Ca-reepy, in a fun way.

Kudos to the show for sewing so many wonderful layers of details into the back drop of this episode. In particular the Sheriff walking into Merlottes in full square dancing regalia/accouterments, Eric draped in a salon cape with foils in his hair, and Jason and Hoyt discussing how they miss Rene but mentioning how they obviously never really knew him.

A detail I could have lived a long and happy life without was definitely Bill smearing blood on Sookie's face and mouth during their sex scene. Really?!? Um, eew!!

In the end, it left me wanting more, counting down the days and really looking forward to Sunday nights!
